A little bit about me :)
For those that don't know, my main focus actually isn't accessories, but clothing. I am a fashion designer by trade, and after 13 years of being a designer in the commercial fashion industry, I decided to take a HUGE leap of faith, pack it all up and do my own thing.
For the first time in a long time I was happy. Doing something I am totally passionate about. Looking back it has been a long road. Miss Happ was born in Sept 2008 when I entered the YDE designer competition. I was one of the top 5 finalists (in a national competition), but didn't go on to win. At the time it was little disappointing, but in hind sight, I do think it was a blessing in disguise!
I launched my clothing label and (a very limited) hair accessory range in the Jan of 2009 (below pics) at the International Tattoo convention. Since then my clothing range has steadily grown and has my accessory range.
I have learn't alot of lessons, and never stop learning. It's all part of it I guess. But I'll save that part for another day ;)
Just wanted to show you what I have been up to with my clothing....I have had some fun with my pastels this summer - so nice and fresh! I am loving how it's all come together! All clothing and accessories are sold at Grounded, Bayside in Cape Town.
Enjoy the rest of your week end peeps!
Till next time,
Mx

Baby She-Skully for Adele's baby Shower prezzie
Decorated this cute litle skully Onesie for Adele's Baby prezzie yesterday. The skull was so perfect for them ;)
Was worried that the red wasn't girly enough, so decided to add the little cherry bow on the top of the baby she-skully. The cute heart button eye also sweetened it up.
Finished it off with my little "Love Miss Happ xox" in the neckline (which is a transfer that you iron on - fabulous!!). The outside back neck also has a cute skully transfer that I landed up adding at the last minute which finished off the whole look perfectly!
I hope Adele and Shaun liked it - I do make each one to suit the parents and baby, so let's hold thumbs!!
Till next time,
Mx

Pamper Products for a pinup girl!
Recently I was browsing the aisles at Clicks and came across an AWESOME range of Body Products called BODY WORKS.
What at first caught my eye was the packaging; The whole range is packaged all 50's style in pale blue and butter yellow, with a very distinct retro feel with the graphics. Most of the products either have a cute pin up girl or a sweet vintage black and white photo from the 50's.
Clicks has almost all of the range (all made in the UK), and for Christmas has a cute little mini gift pack (last pic below). Prices are very reasonable, a little more than regular products, but still less than say, The Body Shop - and besides, I think the products are even nicer and smell just as good!!
There was just no way I was leaving the store without SOMETHING, so...hand cream in hand (pardon the pun!) I marched to pay for my purchase. Besides the product range being quite big they also smell heavenly, and the hand cream is still small enough for your hand bag ;)
Either way, the entire range is on my Christmas List..hint...hint...wink..wink!
Till next time!

What is pin up style?
Although the lines are not definite , there are a few little details to take note of here when looking at the pinup style....
The Pin Up style tends to be slightly more feminine when compared to the rockabilly style. This look is more vintage inspired with looks being very closely modeled on styles (mainly) from the 40’s and 50’s. For the Pin up style girls often revert back to vintage patterns to produce garments that are known as “vintage reproductions” circa 1950 as in our Miss Happ Vintage Dress (below), which was on original Vogue pattern from 1954.
Many girls who dress in the pin up style will go as far as wearing beautiful retro seamed stockings with suspenders and glamourous vintage inspired lingerie as seen at online at What Katie Did together with perfectly coiffed Hair and beautifully applied make up.
Compared to the rockabilly girls who have a very noticeable rebellious look about them with their tattooed bodies and bright hair, pin up girls have a softer, more feminine look, and often don’t have tattoos – or if they do, they are small and understated. True Pinup girls are gracious and genteel and often remain true to the era. The Burlesque style is often closely associated with pin up – well-known model Dita von Teese is pin up personified!

Oh yes! And by the way if you were wondering where the word "pin up" came from it went way back in the forties...The word “pin up girl” is a model who’s pictures see broad appeal. Pin-ups are literally be "pinned-up" on a wall in a garage, or in a boy’s locker room! Pin up girls were made famous during World War 2 – not only in the rooms of G.I’s but also as nose art on Airplanes that were being flown during the war. Interestingly enough, Miss Happ is the name of a (still standing) B25 Mitchell Bomber - except it was spelt with one ”p” at the end; Miss Hap ;)
And that's it....in a nutshell :)
Stay tuned for more....
Till next time,
Mx
