Miss Happ now offers Custom Orders!

We understand it can be difficult to buy a fabulous little number when you can't fit into limited sizes, so we hope that this service is the answer to your dream wardrobe!
With the increased interest in custom made garments from many of our client,  we at Miss Happ have decided to offer a made-to-measure, custom order service for our Cape Town clients on all existing styles (excl end of range/discontinued styles).

We generally offer standerd retail sizes in our Miss Happ range, but this new service is the perfect option for the girl who battles to find a garment that she likes, so if you are, for instance, blessed in the chest department, but are on the short side we can now taylor make your garment for you, so that it fits like a glove, and doesn't hang to your ankles!

This way you will have a garment that you love, and that's fit's you like a glove. You will also then have your own custom pattern in the style you love, making it easier to re-order you favourite dress at time in a different fabric, pattern or colour, or anything you like for your special occasions, or just something a little different for a day out with the girls!

There is a once off Payment that covers your custom pattern (per style) and one fitting as well as the mock-up sample for you to fit - we may need make your fit sample in cheap fabric first as a prototype, although the final garment will be in your desired fabric/s.

What is the cost for a custom order?

Besides the actual garment price (regular retail price) there is an additional ONCE OFF FEE of R390.00
This is for:
  • your own pattern
  • one mock-up garment (prototype/first fit garment))
  • one fitting
What do you need to do first?

You will need to make an appointment to come and see us so that we can discuss what you want, as well as take your measurements. If we have existing garments for you to try on this is when we will do it - sometimes this is easier when adjusting patterns to fit you.

To set up an appointment, you can contact Mandy:
  • Office (Mon-Fri, 9 - 6pm) 021 557 9596
  • e-mail:
  • Please note we cannot accept any returns as these garments are made especially for you - no two bodies are the same!
  • For now, this service is only available for our Cape Town clients
  • All appointments are generally made Monday to Friday, although we can arrange a later evening appointment for you during the week if need be - we understand it is hard when we all have full time jobs!
If there are any questions, please do give us a tinkle!

What is Rockabilly style?

I get asked this often. "So what is this that you are doing?", "Why skulls?", "What's with the tattoos?" here goes..these are purely my a nutshell :)

Rockabilly has it true roots in the rock n’ roll culture of the 50’s, but today girls and guys around the world have taken it to a new level. The look is edgy with strong tattoo influences and is very visible within the alternative community. Many a Rockabilly guy and girl is tattooed which only highlights their need to be an individual - it's a way to stand out from the crowd and is very reminiscent of the rebellious attitudes of icons from the era such as James Dean, Elvis Prestly and the notorious Bettie Page amoung others..

In South Africa we are seeing the subculture slowly gaining popularity and awareness amongst the younger 20 – 30 something’s, and for many it’s a natural progression from other small, niche subcultures such as Goth or punk.
For the modern rockabilly guys and gals, …

What is pin up style?

Although the lines are not definite , there are a few little details to take note of here when looking at the pinup style....

The Pin Up style tends to be slightly more feminine when compared to the rockabilly style. This look is more vintage inspired with looks being very closely modeled on styles (mainly) from the 40’s and 50’s. For the Pin up style girls often revert back to vintage patterns to produce garments that are known as “vintage reproductions” circa 1950 as in our Miss Happ Vintage Dress (below), which was on original Vogue pattern from 1954.

Many girls who dress in the pin up style will go as far as wearing beautiful retro seamed stockings with suspenders and glamourous vintage inspired lingerie as seen at online at What Katie Did together with perfectly coiffed Hair and beautifully applied make up.

Compared to the rockabilly girls who have a very noticeable rebellious look about them with their tattooed bodies and bright hair, pin up girls have a softer, more feminine look,…
